The Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) has teamed with the Electric Mine Consortium (EMC) to further their shared mission of accelerating electrification and decarbonization in the mining industry worldwide.
The pair announced their memorandum of understanding (MoU) on July 17.
“We aim to leverage our collective expertise, resources, and networks to drive collaboration and create innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of the mining industry as a whole,” GMG said of the partnership.
“Both organizations will commit to sharing learnings and progress where possible, and support each other in the implementation of relevant projects.”
The not-for-profit GMG was founded in 2012 as an open, inclusive hub for networking and relationships from without and across the mining industry globally. Its purpose is to enhance safety, innovation and sustainability of the world’s mining industry by facilitating and accelerating collaboration among industry stakeholders, it said.
It currently has working groups on artificial intelligence, asset management, autonomous mining, cybersecurity, data and interoperability, the electric mine, mineral processing, sustainability and underground mining.
