RCT rings in AutoNav Lite for Canadian remediation

RCT-Powered by Epiroc confirmed this week it was able to deploy its AutoNav Lite (semi-automation) at a major northern Canadian gold mining operation to aid it in accelerating stabilisation and remediation activities

The project involved the commissioning two remotely operated dozers, both Caterpillar D10s, to undertake critical works within controlled areas of the operation, enabling operators to manage ground conditions from a safe environment.

From approval to commissioning, the project was completed to meet the grave situational needs, the company said. In fact, according to global operations manager Rick Radcliffe, it was significantly faster than the typical build and deployment cycle for comparable automation solutions.

The equipment was manufactured, assembled and shipped from RCT–Powered by Epiroc’s facilities in Brisbane and Perth before being transported to Canada for installation and commissioning.

RCT worked in tandem with Epiroc techs and local site teams to integrate the solution onto the dozers and they are now operated remotely from dual AutoNav Centres established on-site.

“The project highlights how the team can work together to meet urgent operational requirements at short notice,” said Radcliffe.
