One fatally injured at New Gold mine

Canadian-focused miner New Gold reported an employee was fatally injured on July 24 at its Rainy River mine in northwestern Ontario. The employee was operating a piece of equipment in the open pit when accident occurred.

New Gold voluntarily suspended operations until July 27, as no other equipment or site infrastructure was impacted in the incident.

“The thoughts of management remain with the family, friends and colleagues who have been impacted by this tragic incident. The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees is our top priority,” said the miner.

New Gold said it is supporting the authorities with their investigation.
