Artemis Gold has responded to a wildfire evacuation order issued across a region that includes its Blackwater mine in British Columbia. The company has proactively removed all non-essential staff and contractors from the mine site as of July 21.
“The safety and wellbeing of our employees and contractors is always our top priority,” said CEO Steven Dean. “Meanwhile, we are supporting our project team in planning our prompt return to full-scale construction as soon as it is safe to do so.”
Artemis said it has taken the necessary precautions to safeguard Blackwater and essential staff that remain on site.
Reuters has reported up to 319 active wildfires in British Columbia, with more than half “out of control.”
