NMA LAUNCHES PLANS FOR MINEXPO INTERNATIONAL 2024

GLOBAL EVENT WILL RETURN TO LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER

The National Mining Association (NMA) is the only national trade organization that serves as the nonpartisan voice of the U.S. mining industry – and the hundreds of thousands of American workers it employs – before members of Congress of all parties, the federal agencies, the judiciary and the media, advocating for public policies that will help America fully and responsibly utilize its vast natural resources. NMA member companies represent a diverse range of companies, from resource explorers, developers and producers to equipment manufacturers – and the service providers who support them all.

The NMA is the owner and producer of MINExpo INTERNATIONAL®.

Rich Nolan

Rich Nolan is president and chief executive officer of the NMA. He directs the association’s public policy efforts before Congress, regulatory agencies and the White House, and sets the association’s strategic agenda for media relations, grassroots communications and political involvement.

In his first three years leading the NMA, Nolan led a resurgence in new members, growing membership in both traditional and emerging minerals commodities; established the association’s first Environment, Social and Governance Task Force; created the association’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program; and spearheaded the association’s first rebrand in more than two decades.

With more than 20 years of experience advocating on many natural resources sector issues, Nolan most recently served the NMA for 13 years as senior vice president of government and political affairs. His three decades in government affairs and political advocacy have spanned a number of industries including mining, forestry, paper, chemicals and agriculture. His career began on Capitol Hill, where he served as an aide to several members of Congress and worked as an advisor on multiple campaign committees. After his time on the Hill, he held leadership roles at associations and firms focusing on natural resources and environmental issues, including the American Forest & Paper Association, CropLife America and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Katie O’Brien Coon

Katie O’Brien Coon is the director of meetings and member relations at the NMA. She is responsible for the planning and execution of the association’s meetings and events, working with the board of directors as well as other committees, and is the show director for MINExpo INTERNATIONAL®. Katie joined the NMA in 2018 and helped lead the association through the COVID-19 pandemic to MINExpo INTERNATIONAL® 2021, which was previously scheduled to take place in 2020.

Prior to joining the NMA, Katie worked for several associations in the Washington, D.C. area. She has a degree in Journalism from Utah State University and a master’s degree in Hospitality Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, and has close family ties to the mining industry.

She has been working in the trade show and meetings industry since 2008.
