FLSmidth announced earlier this year that it had completed the expansion of its East Coast Operations unit in Charleston, W.Va., that will offer upgrades and retrofitting for coal preparation plant customers.
The 20,000-sq.-ft. facility is home to one of the world’s largest profile wire manufacturing machines, known as Big Bertha, and also houses all equipment needed for screen bowl and rotor refurbishment, manufacturing of key equipment, rebuilds and retrofits.
The OEM called the location a “one-stop shop” for processing needs, and has the benefit of both operational efficiencies and shorter lead times. It features advanced automation, which will provide customers with optimal precision and repeatability, and it will have new machines as well as rebuilds and retrofits available under one roof.
“The expansion at Charleston makes room for all the processing equipment from the former Johnson City site. Charleston will also benefit from the influx of expertise from the Johnson City facility, meaning you’ll still see many of the same faces,” company officials said.
