Miner killed at Horse Creek Eagle 

Alpha Metallurgical Resources confirmed the death of a shuttle car operator at its Horse Creek Eagle mine in Raleigh County, W.Va., following an accident on April 2 when a piece of rock struck him.

“We are heartbroken to learn of Aaron [Warrix]’s passing,” said Andy Eidson, Alpha’s chief executive officer. “Our hearts are with Aaron’s wife, family, and friends.”

The company said it is working alongside federal and state agencies to complete an investigation into the accident and its circumstances.

Marfork Coal Company LLC, a subsidiary of Alpha Metallurgical Resources, operates Horse Creek Eagle.
