Manitou MHT790 Mining ST5 Telehandler Hits North American Market

Manitou has introduced an entirely new telehandler purpose-built for the mining industry to the North American market: the MHT 790 Mining Telehandler. This telehandler — with a max lift capacity of 19,842 pounds and a max lifting height of 22 feet, four inches — is built to work in a support role in all mining operations from delivering resources and materials in underground mines to above-ground equipment support and service.

This 29,013-pound telehandler features enhancements specifically for improving performance in mining operations, such as guarding around the cabin, window and lights; an exhaust fume purifier, hydraulic hose guarding, a 360-degree camera system, LED lights and extensive reflective features, and electrical system guarding. It also features a series of control systems and warnings ideally suited for mining, such as Manitou’s “Guardian Angel” monitoring system. This safety system alerts the operator of various failures within the engine, transmission, steering, and hydraulic systems. External emergency stops and a pre-start horn alarm are also available. It also comes with specialized mining tires, fail-safe braking and steering systems, and a remote control for added safety and performance. Fire prevention and control systems are available as optional equipment.

“The MHT 790 Mining Telehandler reflects the best in telehandler engineering matched with the specific needs of the mining industry,” says Steve Kiskunas, product manager – telehandlers, Manitou. “We’ve custom-engineered this machine for these applications while holding true to our commitment of low total cost of ownership. This machine is extremely easy to operate and maintain — ensuring its uptime and performance to help keep the rest of your mine running as intended.”

While this machine is purpose-built for mining, it retains many of the hallmark Manitou performance features that make it well-suited for all-terrain performance, including four-wheel drive with a hydrostatic transmission for getting around all types of sites, inclines and underfoot conditions. The cab is extremely comfortable with excellent visibility around the machine. Another element that sets the MHT 790 mining telehandler apart from other telehandlers is its attachment range purposefully designed for specific applications in mining support and material handling.

The MHT 790 Mining Telehandler provides a broad selection of specialized attachments tailored for mining and support tasks, enhancing its versatility and precision in even the most demanding environments. These attachments include tire handlers capable of servicing mining equipment of all sizes, cylinder handlers for safe and accurate cylinder handling, and a 3-hook jib with variable offsets for suspended loads. A hydraulic winch enables smoother hoisting of suspended materials, while a platform-mounted winch elevates both personnel and loads. Traditional attachments, such as forks and work platforms, provide additional support options. Switching attachments is straightforward, thanks to the choice of either a manual or hydraulic coupling system.
