Mini Case Study
A gold mine in Western Africa wanted to establish a network to provide a high-speed data backhaul from their underground operation to the surface, without running fiber. The mine already had an existing fiber optic backbone down its vertical shaft and along the main decline at each level. Strata ran over 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) of DigitalBRIDGE coaxial cable, along with DigitalBRIDGE radiating Wi-Fi cable, into the mine from the fiber. One hundred and twenty (120) DigitalBRIDGE Quadports were installed to provide PoE connection of Wi-Fi access points. This combination of access points and radiating cable created widespread Wi-Fi coverage and quickly extended the high-speed data network to remote locations.
