Surface drill rig order beats record for Sandvik

Equipment maker Sandvik has won its largest-ever order, valued at SEK 248 million (US$23.66 million), for surface drill rigs to be delivered beginning this quarter to U.S. dealer Country Boy Supply.

The order, booked in the fourth quarter of 2023, includes 34 units to replace the company’s current contractor fleet in Georgia and Tennessee.

Specifically, the fleet will include 16 Leopard DI650i drills, six Leopard DI550 drills, five Pantera DP1600i drills, three Ranger DX800 drills, three Ranger DX700 drills and one Pantera DP1500i drill.

Automation will be a key feature in the fleet upgrade, as part of the equipment will be equipped with Sandvik AutoMine readiness. The rigs will be used for production drilling in various open-pit mines, large quarries and construction work sites.

“We are very pleased to deepen our partnership with Country Boy Supply and deliver the most productive and powerful surface drill rigs available to upgrade their fleet. This partnership will further strengthen our position in the surface drilling solutions market,” said president Mats Eriksson.
