Inaugural West Virginia Coal Show planned in partnership with 50th annual West Virginia Coal Association Symposium

SEMCO Publishing, publisher of North American Mining magazine, has come to an agreement with the West Virginia Coal Association to hold a combined first annual West Virginia Coal Show and 50th anniversary West Virginia Coal Symposium from March 26-28, 2024 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center in Charleston, W.Va.

Exhibit sales are open for the combined event, which promises to convene a qualified audience of coal professionals from the entire Eastern coal producing region as well as the Illinois Basin, and both groups have additionally invited coal advocacy groups from across North America. >From the mine to the boardroom and all stops in between, this exciting and unprecedented exposition and conference will bring together the best the coal industry has to offer and present sessions on the most vital topics for coal’s future.

“The coal industry is changing and now is the time for coal shows to change, too,” said SEMCO Publishing President and Publisher Peter Johnson. “We are offering exhibitors better prices, better attendance, better marketing plans and great service.”

Multiple price levels are available for vendor booths, and forklift service will be offered free of charge thanks to a sponsorship from North American Mining magazine. Special booth packages that include carpet, a table and chairs begin at just $150. A portion of all proceeds from the exposition will benefit Friends of Coal.

Chris Hamilton, president of the West Virginia Coal Association, said the group is already working hard to curate the symposium agenda for the 2024 event, including current topics in operations, technology and safety as well as the latest developments in regional and federal coal policy and legislation.

“Current and future opportunities for coal are very real as growth and development around the globe increases their reliance on West Virginia coal,” he said. “We are excited to add the equipment and products dimension of our industry with our Mining Symposium, which hopefully will draw a broader, more diverse cross section of the industry together. Just as the times require everyone in the business to band together and stand up and be counted, this show has the potential to provide the forum for that to occur and for a larger segment of the industry to participate and contribute to a more secured industry going forward.”
