After many years of collaboration, the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) and Coeur Mining have formalized a four-year strategic partnership to benefit the mining and minerals industry at large.

“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing technical excellence, professional leadership, and industry credibility,” added Michael “Mick” Routledge, Coeur executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“Together, we are investing in the expertise and integrity that will shape the future of our industry, reinforcing the highest standards of technical governance, resource reporting, and responsible mine development.”

Coeur will join the SME Foundation’s Corporate Roundtable Partnership as a Patron-level partner. Through generous contributions, Patron partners join a class of firms across the mining and minerals industry, building a future for world-class mineral education and encouraging young people toward mining careers.

The company will also continue making an impact at MINEXCHANGE SME Annual Conference & Expo as an Influencer-level sponsor, supporting functions including the Women of SME Breakfast, the Mining NOW podcast, and the SME Mining & Exploration Division Luncheon.

The U.S.-based producer will additionally promote leadership across SME’s robust Health & Safety Division through being a title sponsor for the annual Stride for Safety 5K Run/Walk at MINEXCHANGE; receiving 10 registrations to SME’s Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP) Review Course/Exam; and hosting a future CMSP Review Course/Exam.

Other 2026 SME strategic partners are Freeport-McMoRan, Rio Tinto, Newmont, Hecla, and South32.
