Final report released for January incident in Alaska

MSHA reports ninth fatality of 2021

The Mine Safety and Health Administration reported that on April 22, a miner at Broadfoot Pit #2, Buffalo, Neb., was fatally injured when leaving the mine site in his personal pickup truck. The manual swing barrier gate was partially closed. A gate pole entered the truck’s windshield as the pickup truck approached, striking the victim and causing fatal injuries.

MSHA issues safety warning on belt conveyors

The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has issued a safety alert for miners working near belt conveyors after recording eight conveyor-related fatalities at U.S. mines since Jan. 26, 2017.

Alert issued following deaths related to electro-hydraulic lifts

MSHA has urged the use of qualified welders to inspect welds and metal components, and also to train users, after taking note of several fatalities that were tied to damaged or defective welds on aerial lifts.
