Tennessee-based met coal miner Clinch Resources has kicked off commercial-grade coal production at its Lanes Branch coking coal property in southern West Virginia.
The commencement of operations transitions the company officially from developer to commercial operator.
Lanes Branch is located within Clinch’s 54,000-acre ARI project footprint. Processing and delivery have also begun, though the miner did not disclose a timeline or recipient name.
“Reaching first production ahead of schedule at Lanes Branch validates our operational strategy and the quality of our assets. We are now focused on ramping production volumes while maintaining the operational excellence and safety standards that define our company culture,” said Clinch CEO Jon Nix.
Clinch said its mines, the first two of which are being brought to production now, will supply high-quality coking coal to steel-based manufacturing facilities both domestically and seaborn for critical global infrastructure.
