MSHA, NSSGA renew alliance

The U.S. Department of Labor announced that the Mine Safety and Health Administration has renewed its longstanding alliance with the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association. The alliance ensures industry personnel will have access to information, guidance, and training resources that will protect the health and safety of miners.

“MSHA’s industry alliances advance our goal of protecting the safety of miners across the country,” said Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health Wayne Palmer. “We look forward to collaborating with NSSGA to address safety issues of particular concern to their members in the aggregates industry.”

The alliance agreement outlines several key provisions including:

  • Providing technical assistance to the industry.
  • Analyzing data to provide education and training materials.
  • Developing and sharing best practices.
  • Collaboratively exchanging timely information on injury and employment data.
  • Participating in trainings, workshops, conferences and other opportunities to share information.
