Heliostar is on track to meet its 2025 production, sales, and cost guidance by restarting its La Colorada gold-silver mine in Sonora, Mexico, in early January. The company reported 9,082 oz of gold equivalent production and 8,034 oz of sales during the first quarter. Sales of 31,000–41,000 oz of gold equivalent are projected for this year.
“Q1 2025 was a very strong quarter, the company’s first production quarter. We resumed production at La Colorada, paid down the acquisition debt, and reported lower-than-budgeted costs ,” CEO Charles Funk said in a statement.
“In 2Q25, volume is expected to decline as inventory on the San Agustín leach pad [in Durango state] draws down ahead of the planned restart of primary mining activities in 2025,” he commented. “We remain on track to meet our production and cost guidance for the year.”
Funk said Heliostar closed the quarter with a cash balance of USD 27 million. “This allows us to expand the drilling program at La Colorada and initiate the company’s largest drilling campaign at our flagship Ana Paula project, where we see potential to increase high-grade underground resources,” he explained.
Heliostar’s vice president of corporate communications, Rob Gray, told BNamericas in February that the company has begun a feasibility study on Ana Paula , in Guerrero state . The study is expected to be completed in the first or second quarter of 2026 .
According to a February statement, drilling and technical compensation studies will continue on the project, and the company expects to make a construction decision shortly thereafter.
Funk indicated that in 2Q25, Heliostar will focus on delivering an updated technical report supporting the planned production increase at La Colorada and completing the permitting process to restart mining at San Agustín . “The company intends to use cash flow from operations to increase annual gold production at both active mines, as well as to build Ana Paula with minimal dilution of capital,” he explained.
Heliostar aims to become a mid-tier gold producer.
