Victoria Gold’s Eagle idled after heap leach incident

Yukon Territory, Canada miner Victoria Gold said the heap leach at its Eagle gold mine near Mayo, north of Whitehorse, has had a failure, causing operations at the site to stop.

While details are scarce about the June 24 incident, the company said none of its employees were injured.

“At this early stage, it can be confirmed that there has been some damage to infrastructure and a portion of the failure has left containment,” it said.

The company is currently working alongside officials to assess the scene and gather information.

Victoria Goild wholly owns the mine, part of the Dublin Gulch gold property.
