First pour at Castle Mountain

In October 2020, Equinox Gold confirmed it poured first gold, totaling 727 ounces, from its Castle Mountain mine in California.

Phase 1 construction was completed the prior month. A previous study outlined potential production of 45,000 ounces per year in phase 1 and more than 200,000 oz. annually in the second phase.

Loaded carbon from the Castle Mountain mine will be processed in a carbon stripping and smelting plant at the company’s Mesquite mine – also located in California but about 200 miles south of the complex – which will permit increased operating efficiencies for both operations.
