An explosion at a coal mine run by Madanjoo Co. in eastern Iran on September 21 has killed at least 51 people and injured 20, according to state news agency IRNA.<\/em> The blast was reportedly caused by a methane gas leak in blocks B and C of the mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mine, which is located in Tabas, covers an area of more than 30,000 square kilometers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first mining disaster for Iran. A blast in 2017 killed 43 miners in Azadshahr, noted the BBC<\/em>, while an explosion at a coal mine last year in Damghan killed six. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
