Contango Ore, in a joint venture with Kinross for the Manh Choh operation near Tok, Alaska, has recorded first gold pour from the mine at Kinross\u2019 Fort Knox mill facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mining first started in late 2023 at the site. The companies did not disclose the dimensions of the first pour, but Contango CEO and President Rick Van Nieuwenhuyse called July 8 \u201cmonumental\u201d for all stakeholders involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom the first discovery hole to pouring the first bar of gold emblazed with the special Manh Choh branding, it has certainly been a journey, but one that sets us up for future success. With the Peak Gold JV\u2019s Manh Choh project now producing gold, we have a solid foundation to build Contango by employing a different, more disciplined model.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The land on which Manh Choh is mining is in partnership with its owner, the Native Village of Tetlin, via a lease arrangement. It is expected to produce for four to five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
