Barrick Gold\u2019s Nevada Gold Mines has confirmed receipt of its plan of operations for the new Goldrush underground mine at the Cortex complex in Beowawe, Nev., from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, allowing it to advance to active status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The record of decision from the agency sets forth Goldrush\u2019s plan to start ramping up in 2024 after commissioning of its initial project infrastructure. The miner said it could produce 130,000 ounces next year, and about 400,000 oz\/y by 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goldrush, which has had a price tag for Barrick and NGM of $370 million, could cost another $1 billion to get to its planned production level. In the meantime, the two said, production equipment deliveries are on track, as is recruitment of the new mine\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is anticipated that Goldrush will create a total of approximately 500 jobs during construction and 570 new jobs during operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NGM is majority owned and operated by Barrick Gold. The other joint venture owner is Newmont (38.5%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
