Stantec, which has been an environmental services partner with Foran Mining in the development of the McIlvenna Bay copper-zinc-gold-silver project in Saskatchewan, has confirmed a milestone for its work: ministerial approval by the province\u2019s Environmental Assessment Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Stantec, which led an assessment of the project\u2019s effects on groundwater quantity and quality, said that the ministerial approval brings to an end the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process for McIlvenna and allows it to advance into permitting, when it will also receive the needed approvals for construction and operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe modeling [of our work] examined groundwater levels and groundwater discharge to surface water features,\u201d the consultant and engineering firm said. \u201cIt also looked at impacts of potential mine seepage on groundwater.\u201d It is continuing to provide environmental assessment services to Foran and the project as it enters final design and construction.<\/p>\n\n\n

McIlvenna Bay is part of the Flin Flon Greenstone Belt and is located about 65 kilometers west of Flin Flon, Manitoba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In related news, Stantec also recently said it designed a new C$1 billion lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing facility that is headed to British Columbia. Owner E-One Moli Energy is targeting the production of up to 135 million battery cells annually from the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stantec\u2019s scope of work includes planning, architecture, mechanical, electrical, fire suppression, structural, industrial, ICT, civil, geotechnical, and substation engineering, as well as interior design, landscape architecture sustainability consulting, building commissioning and environmental services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction of the E-One Moli Energy manufacturing facility is expected to begin in June 2024 and be fully operational in 2028. It will be staffed by an estimated 350 workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
