The miner died from his injuries on Aug. 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the 28th fatality reported in 2023, and the 12th classified as \u201cMachinery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MSHA recommends the following best practices to avoid this type of accident:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not work under suspended loads.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use properly rated lifting equipment and ensure that the load is well secured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach tag lines to suspended loads to steady or guide the load.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate lift plans to all persons working in the lift zone.
