BQE Water has entered into a contract with the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources of the Yukon (Canada) government to provide operations and technical advisory\/engineering services with regards to water management at the abandoned Minto copper-gold mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We understand how important safe, transparent and cost-effective clean water production at Minto Mine is for the Yukon and for all project stakeholders,\u201d said BQE Water President and CEO David Kratochvil.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince we reengaged with the project, Minto Metals, the Selkirk First Nation and the Yukon government have had our commitment to deliver first rate service no matter the site circumstances. We are also appreciative of the opportunity to work directly with the Yukon government to continue to deliver on this commitment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operations services will focus on the seasonal operation of the existing water treatment plant at Minto, which BQE designed and operated until 2013, and managing the environmental discharge in accordance with the current Water Use License. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical advisory and engineering services will entail assisting the government with assessing water management changes, including to the existing treatment system, to support site closure and remediation for the long-term. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minto Metals announced that they had abandoned the Minto mine site on May 12, 2023. The mine is located on settlement land of the Selkirk First Nation in central Yukon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
