Canadian producer Centerra Gold has appointed Paul Tomory as its president and chief executive officer, effective May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomory, with over 25 years of experience in mining, engineering and construction, was most recently executive vice president and chief technical officer for Kinross Gold, where he worked for 14 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to Kinross, he worked in management consulting at Bain & Company and in a technical capacity with Golder Associates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Parrett, board chair, said the company is happy to have Tomory during what he called an important stage for Centerra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHis leadership experience and record of strategically building and operating mines through all stages of the mining life cycle while ensuring a safety-first culture, will be extremely valuable to Centerra. He has a wealth of technical expertise that we believe will position the company for future growth, bringing development assets into production and optimizing performance of Centerra\u2019s existing assets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centerra operates two mines: the Mount Milligan mine in British Columbia, Canada, and the \u00d6ks\u00fct mine in Turkey. It also owns the Goldfield District project in Nevada, the Kemess Underground project in British Columbia, and owns and operates the Molybdenum Business Unit in the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
