Australian miner Jervois Global said it has successfully completed water commissioning in the mill and concentrator facilities at its Idaho Cobalt Operations (ICO) complex near Salmon, Idaho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Completion of the construction project will occur once the mill and concentrator have been successfully commissioned and producing separated cobalt and copper concentrates. Full concentrator commissioning is expected in early Q2 2023 after ongoing labor shortages for qualified electricians delayed the construction progress.<\/p>\n\n\nPhoto: Jervois Global<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n
In addition to advancing surface construction, the miner said underground and stoping activities have successfully commenced in the mine with more than 25,000 short tons of mineralized material stored ready for processing. Moreover, the first stope in the mineralized horizon has been successfully opened, further de-risking mining and confirming the potential for short-hole, open-stope mining methods where appropriate, potentially lowering mining costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once fully commissioned, ICO will be the only primary cobalt mine in the U.S. and will produce a cobalt concentrate, which will be refined into the critical metal necessary for electric vehicles, energy generation and distribution, defense and other industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
