Corsa Coal confirmed the death of one miner this week at its Acosta Deep Mine site in Somerset County, Pa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unidentified worker was found unresponsive during routine maintenance activities during the late morning hours local time on October 22, the company said Oct. 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were no active operations at the Jenner Township mine on that day, and operations at Acosta have since recommenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interim president and CEO Kevin Harrigan said: \u201cOur thoughts and prayers are with the employee\u2019s family and friends, and with our Corsa team at this incredibly difficult time. We will complete a thorough review and will issue further statements and provide additional information as appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corsa said that it is fully cooperating with the investigation that has opened to find the cause of the fatality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
