{"id":3212,"date":"2022-09-29T17:29:19","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T17:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northamericanmining.com\/?p=3212"},"modified":"2022-09-30T14:05:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-30T14:05:40","slug":"msha-reports-seventh-machinery-death-of-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northamericanmining.com\/index.php\/2022\/09\/29\/msha-reports-seventh-machinery-death-of-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"MSHA Reports Seventh Machinery Death of 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has reported that on August 4, a mine manager at Wooten Sand &amp; Gravel Inc., Miller County, Ark. died while performing maintenance on a bulldozer. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While kneeling on the bulldozer\u2019s track, the victim accidentally engaged the lever that put the bulldozer in reverse. The bulldozer track moved the victim to the rear of the bulldozer where he was run over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the 17th fatality reported in 2022, and the seventh classified as \u201cMachinery.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MSHA recommends the following best practices to avoid this type of accident:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Operators should train miners on safe maintenance procedures:<ul><li>Turn off the engine.<\/li><li>Block equipment against motion.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Operators should make sure miners are in a safe location in relation to machine parts that can move.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has reported that on August 4, a mine manager at Wooten Sand &amp; Gravel Inc., Miller County, Ark. died while performing maintenance on a bulldozer. \u00a0 While kneeling on the bulldozer\u2019s track, the victim accidentally engaged the lever that put the bulldozer in reverse.
