Stephen Enders has been appointed head of the mining engineering department at the Colorado School of Mines.<\/p>\n

Enders, a member of the Minex faculty since 2009, was most recently the head of the institution\u2019s geology and geological engineering departments.<\/p>\n
Over his career in the field, he working as a geologist, manager and executive in many mines worldwide.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve worked in copper and gold mines and on exploration and development projects all around the world. My job now is to use that unique mix of experience in industry, academia and management to lead the mining engineering department into the future,\u201d he said in July, when he was selected.<\/p>\n
His new seat was effective Aug. 1.<\/p>\n
Enders left Phelps Dodge to join Newmont in 2003 as their senior vice president of worldwide exploration. He retired from the gold mining company in 2009.<\/p>\n
In the years since joining Mines, Enders has been chairman, director and chief operating officer of EMX Royalty Corp. (formerly Eurasian Minerals) and still holds the title of senior advisor to EMX.<\/p>\n
He is also a co-founder of Cupric Canyon Capital, which currently constructing an underground copper-silver mine in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
