The American Exploration and Mining Association\u2019s (AEMA) annual meeting, expo and education event has concluded in Reno, Nev., with a healthy turnout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With \u201cMining\u2019s Role in Securing America\u2019s Future\u201d selected as this year\u2019s theme, the conference ran from Dec. 5 with short courses and closed on Dec. 10 after three days of expo hall hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical sessions were also held in the morning and afternoon on all days, including topics like environmental issues, legislative and public affairs, and geology and exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting featured a trio of keynote speakers, the first being Nova Gold Resources president and CEO Gregory Long with the presentation, \u201cThe Evolution of Sustainability Practices at Donlin Gold.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Dec. 8, Resource Capital Funds responsible investment officer Allison Forrest presented \u201cESG and Mining Private Equity: An Investor\u2019s Approach to Exploration and Juniors\u201d in which she discussed environmental, social and governance implementation strategies including alignment with best practices, structured communication with management and setting goals and milestones associated with funding. The final keynote speaker was a special guest, Alaska state governor Mike Dunleavy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
