{"id":1543,"date":"2021-12-02T19:50:31","date_gmt":"2021-12-02T19:50:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northamericanmining.com\/?p=1543"},"modified":"2021-12-02T19:50:32","modified_gmt":"2021-12-02T19:50:32","slug":"pinto-valley-now-fully-permitted-to-2039-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northamericanmining.com\/index.php\/2021\/12\/02\/pinto-valley-now-fully-permitted-to-2039-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Pinto Valley now fully permitted to 2039"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1544\" src=\"https:\/\/northamericanmining.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/pintovalley_ballmill.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"301\" height=\"194\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Copper-focused producer Capstone Mining has received a new mine plan of operations from the U.S. Forest Service for its Pinto Valley operation in Arizona \u2013 specifically, an extension to its mine life through 2039 that will allow for significantly more jobs and pounds of copper production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of a recent optimization project at the Pinto Valley mine, the shell of ball mill #3 was replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Company president and CEO Darren Pylot said in early November the plan, which was approved by the Tonto National Forest and included a detailed evaluation and stakeholder consultation process, gives it not only the continued operation capabilities, but also additional environmental controls and monitoring and mitigation measures to address potential environmental impacts from the mine\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All told, the expansion will allow for the mine to produce 2.5 billion pounds of copper and keep about 700 jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWe recently completed a $31 million optimization project which has increased productivity, decreased costs, and built a more resilient operation,\u201d Pylot noted of the Gila County operation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is truly a historic day. This approval took more than five years to obtain, and we thank the U.S. Forest Service employees who helped keep this project on track.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Capstone, in addition to Pinto Valley, operates the Cozamin copper-silver mine in Zacatecas state of Mexico.
