The annual national conference of Women in Mining USA is set to begin this week in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a lengthy wait thanks to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The event has been themed \u201cChanging the Face of Mining\u201d and will kick off on Oct. 21 at the Salt Lake City Marriott University Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Day 1 will be conference-style and offers a number of panels, speakers and roundtable discussions. A kick-off keynote will be offered by Coeur Mining\u2019s Elaina Ware, who will discuss mining\u2019s reputation and expectations from next generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Panels and roundtable sessions will take on diverse topics including the challenges of attracting, retaining and growing female workers; approaches and challenges to improving mining\u2019s reputation to attract a diverse workforce; a general manager panel; and how to collectively make an impact for accelerating a more diverse, inclusive workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Day 2 of the conference includes three options for attendees, the first being a field trip tour of the Redmond underground salt mine. A second option is a field trip to the Rio Tinto Kennecott copper operation, and a third track involves a personal development workshop entitled \u201cLeading by Empathy\u201d for guests seeking more information on laying groundwork for an inclusive workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wrapping up the three-day event will be the organization\u2019s annual board meeting and associated presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
