Michelin has added a new tire option for wheel loaders with the release of its Xtra Power L5** 26.5 R25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release, it said, was designed specifically for performance in extreme and demanding conditions along with operator comfort at mines and quarries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new size follows the initial version of the Michelin Xtra Power L5*** 35\/65 R33 in 2021. It meets various needs: face work, block handling, forestry transport, and operations subjecting the tire to extreme stresses and high working speeds.

Acknowledging the new generation of larger vehicles with high-capacity buckets, the Xtra Power L5** 26.5 R25 also allows for a load capacity increase of up to 18.5 metric tons, 23% more than the previous generation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michelin engineers developed an innovative structure for this new tire size, the company said, with a curved design and improved support of the rubber blocks that reduce stress on the contact surface and maximize protection. The tread and shoulders of the tire have been reinforced for added protection against damage. Torque transmission is improved by the larger bead heel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Michelin Xtra Power L5** 26.5 R25 can handle the most challenging working environments, while delivering optimised load capacity and improved torque transmission in a stable, comfortable and safe manner,\u201d said Clifford de Jager, CES Technical Manager, Beyond Road \u2013 Mining, Construction, Material Handling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDesigned to be retreadable, the MICHELIN Xtra Power L5** 26.5 R25 allows fleet managers to optimise its use, as well as operational costs in the long term. This new size can be used up to 7.5 bars, improving the stability of machines by 20% and further enhancing operator comfort, even during intensive loading cycles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
