Unlike dry friction brakes that rely on direct contact \u2014 and therefore require frequent adjustment and replacement \u2014 oil shear technology uses a thin film of automatic transmission fluid between the friction disc and drive plate. As the fluid is compressed, its molecules, in shear, transmit torque smoothly and consistently.
