The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) led a nationwide campaign to defend NIOSH. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cThis is not just a win for NIOSH \u2013 it\u2019s a win for every worker who depends on science-backed safety standards to do their job and come home safe,\u201d said Cam Mackey, president and CEO of ISEA. \u201cFrom firefighters to healthcare workers, from industrial crews to military responders, today\u2019s news ensures the programs that protect them remain strong.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
NIOSH\u2019s respirator approval system \u2013 which many call the gold standard in respiratory protection \u2013 was at risk under proposed staffing cuts. Its reinstatement ensures the certification system stays intact at a time when global health and emergency readiness remain top priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNIOSH\u2019s respirator approval program isn\u2019t just a bureaucratic process \u2014 it\u2019s a life-saving measure that gives first responders confidence in the gear they rely on in hazardous environments,\u201d added Dan Glucksman, ISEA\u2019s senior director of policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ISEA played a leading role in the push to restore these positions, mobilizing member companies, engaging with Congress and federal agencies, and building a cross-sector coalition to amplify the message: Protecting NIOSH is protecting the health, safety and resilience of America\u2019s workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile this is one step forward, it\u2019s a significant one,\u201d Mackey noted. \u201cISEA looks forward to our continued work with Rep.
