Representatives from Vale Base Metals visited Coll\u00e8ge Bor\u00e9al to witness firsthand the impact of our recently donated scooptram on the college\u2019s School of Trades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This equipment, previously used at VBM\u2019s Coleman mine in Sudbury, Ontario, was donated to help students learn to assemble, troubleshoot, and operate this important piece of machinery commonly used in today\u2019s mining operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scooptram arrived in pieces and was assembled by students, who are now using it to gain practical skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several dignitaries from Coll\u00e8ge Bor\u00e9al and Vale Base Metals gathered at the Sudbury campus to celebrate the equipment donation made by the Global company to the Franco-Ontarian post-secondary institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Vale Base Metals presented Coll\u00e8ge Bor\u00e9al with a scooptram (LT350 model) manufactured by Mining Technologies International. Students in the Heavy Equipment Technician program, who were also invited to the event, will directly benefit from this equipment throughout their two-year training program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously used at the underground Coleman mine, northwest of Sudbury, the scooptram is valued at approximately $600,000 when new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are honored to contribute to the development of students and professors by donating a LHD (Load Haul Dump) from one of our mines,\u201d said Frank Demers, director of Ontario Mines, Vale Base Metals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
